Jonathan H. Lack, founder and principal
of ROI, has more than 12 years of post-MBA management experience
in marketing and strategic planning, particularly for the financial
services, electronic commerce, information services and manufacturing
sectors. He has either been directly affiliated with or consulted
for such companies as Compaq, HP, MCI, Microsoft, Nokia, US West
and
several start-up to mid-sized firms, domestically and abroad.
Lack was a member of the founding executive management of Houston-based
CompuBank, N.A., the first Internet bank to receive a charter from
the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. In that role, he successfully
helped raise $36 million in institutional funding from Goldman Sachs,
SoftBank, General Electric, and Marsh & McLennan. As chief strategist
and marketing officer for CompuBank, he built a staff and led a program
that resulted in one of the industry's fastest growth rates. In addition,
his group developed brand recognition and customer confidence programs
that earned CompuBank the number one ranking in online banking by
the Wall Street Journal's SmartMoney Magazine. In May 2001, CompuBank's
accounts and deposits were sold to NetBank, a public Internet bank
based the United States.
Lack holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School
of Business, a master's degree in International Relations from Johns
Hopkins University's School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS),
and a bachelor's degree in Middle East Studies from the University
of California at Berkeley.
An active member of the Houston community, Lack is a trustee of the
Holocaust Museum Foundation and the Stillman-Lack Art Foundation.
In addition, he is a board member of the U.S. Baltic Foundation, the
Houston Chapter of the American Jewish Committee, and the Mickey Leland
(former U.S. Congressman) Kibbutz Internship Program. Lack also is
an active a member of the (James) Baker Institute Roundtable at Rice
University and is president of the Wharton Club of Houston. Previously,
he was the chair of the Houston Chapter of the Society of Competitive
Intelligence Professionals (SCIP).
